Naming | Brand Identity | Communications

We channelled the photographic history of Ilford to create a distinctive name and identity for this luxury, modern development.

Make it stand out.

In 1879 Alfred Hugh Harman founded a small photographic company called, the Britannia Works Company. It eventually went on to become known as Ilford, named after the area and the hugely influential photographic brand was born.

Initially making photographic plates, it grew to occupy a large site in the centre of Ilford. Just a short distance away from where our building now stands.

We used this distinctive history and connection to the Ilford brand as the basis for our naming. We also used black and white, the main film the brand was known for as the colour palette for the entire development.

Since launch

Launched at approximately £578 per sq ft, OTO anticipated the transformation of Seven Kings into one of East London's best-connected neighbourhoods. Today, comparable new-build apartments in the area continue to achieve £560–615 per sq ft, while the arrival of the Elizabeth Line has reduced journey times to Liverpool Street to around 20 minutes, reinforcing the long-term value of the location.
